As amazing as the network marketing industry is, there is a good chance that you might find yourself facing the same problem that plagues many other marketers: you just can’t seem to generate enough leads to get your MLM business off the ground!
Well, we’ve all been there (even people like Mike Dillard
) and it can be extremely frustrating. You have this amazing opportunity, but you just can’t seem to get anyone interested enough to take notice.
In my experience, there are three “secrets” to mlm lead generation. I hesitate to use the word secret because I think it tends to get overused, but in this case, I’m going to make an exception.

Become A Leader
Let me repeat that. Become a leader. No one wants to follow a follower. People want to follow leaders, so if you are not a leader, then it’s time you become one…and quickly! This can be done simply by working on yourself, by making yourself more valuable and by teaching and helping others.
As entrepreneurs, working on our ourselves is just as critical as working on our business. This is a really important concept that is unfortunately often overlooked, but it is something we have complete control over. The truth is that nothing is stopping us but ourselves!
Provide Value
Let’s be honest. Nobody cares how much money you made last month or last year. What people do care about is how you are going to help them be successful. It is so important that we are always providing value to our prospects. One of my favorite quotes is
“We must give without want before we can receive.”
I think that just about sums it up. This really is one of the most important aspects of MLM lead generation. We must always be giving to our prospects and teaching. It’s okay to sell (we are in sales, after all), but I would say 80-90% of the time we should be providing value and the other 10-20% of the time it’s okay to sell.
Don’t Be Needy
If there is one thing your prospects will see right through, it’s neediness. Remember, we have the opportunity that will change their lives and not the other way around, so there is no reason to feel needy. Value your time and don’t waste it by chasing people down to join your business.
It’s one thing to follow up with your prospects and be courteous, but quite another to turn into a “stalker” and try to get them to sign up! The internet is a very abundant place to be and there are leads and prospects everywhere if you know how to market and where to look, so maintain that attitude of abundance and it will provide you with great rewards!
There are a lot of different factors surrounding MLM lead generation, but these three basic secrets are a good start. These principals will help you build the foundation of your lead generation strategy. From there, the sky’s the limit!
